With the popular introduction of 3×3 basketball in the Olympics, one comment often heard is about the ball. What is up with the blue and golden yellow colored ball? We were excited to hear the news that was announced recently by Hoop It Up and Wilson Sports.
Wilson Basketball to Become the Official Game Ball of Hoop It Up
Hoop It Up, the iconic 3×3 basketball tour owned by NBA legend Kevin Garnett, and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. announced a partnership today that will make Wilson the official game ball of Hoop It Up effective immediately.
The Wilson FIBA 3×3 game ball will be the exclusive ball for all Hoop It Up championships including the Hoop It Up Pro Am League which debuts this year.
“This partnership with Wilson allows Hoop It Up participants to play with the same Wilson FIBA 3×3 ball as other FIBA sanctioned events, including the Olympics. We are truly excited about this partnership,” said George Daniel, CEO of Kevin Garnett’s Big Ticket Sports LLC.
Last month, Hoop It Up announced a sanctioning agreement with FIBA which included an automatic berth for the Hoop It Up champion to compete in a FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters featuring the best 3×3 teams in the World. In addition, teams and players registered for the Hoop It Up Pro-Am will be earning FIBA 3×3 ranking points which can help the U.S. and Canada climb up the FIBA 3×3 Federation Ranking to qualify for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup and the Olympic Games.
“We look forward to actively working with Hoop It Up toward further enriching their basketball programs while supporting athletes as they pursue their athletic goals.” said Kevin Murphy, General Manager, Team Sports, Wilson. “Hoop It Up has a tradition of quality competition and we are excited to have our professional basketballs used on their courts.”
